Directions to the Festival
|
| From I-99 / Route 220 |
Take Rt 220 / I-99 to the Bedford exit. (Note, this is not the Turnpike Interchange exit, but the exit for the town of Bedford.) After taking the Bedford exit, you will come upon Route 30. From the stop sign, you can turn left (west) and drive about 1/4 mile to the Bedford Fairgrounds entrance. You can park at the fairgrounds for about $5 and take the free shuttle bus into the festival area. Or, if you prefer to park in town, turn right (east). Drive approximately 1/4 mile into town. The festival is held along Penn Street and Juliana Street, as well as in the Fort Bedford Park. Parking is sometimes difficult to find, but it is available on a first come-first served basis. |
| From the PA Turnpike |
Take the PA Turnpike to Exit #146 (Old Exit #11). After paying the toll, you'll come to a stop light. Turn right (south) onto Business Route 220. After driving for about a mile, you'll come upon Old Bedford Village (on your right side). You can cross the covered bridge and park at Old Bedford Village if you like and take the free shuttle into the festival area. Parking at the village is about $5. The shuttle runs all day during the festival. Or, if you prefer to park in town and walk to the festival area, you shouldn't turn into Old Bedford Village. Instead, stay on Business Route 220. Drive another mile into the town of Bedford. The festival area will be off to your right side as you drive through town on Business Route 220 (aka Richard Street). During the Fall Foliage Festival hours, parking near town is usually at a premium. It is often a 3 or 4 block walk to the festival area, but it is occassionally possible to find parking closer. |
| From Route 30 |
Drive on Route 30 and when approaching Bedford, take Business Route 30 .... (do not take the bypass).
If you're driving east, you'll come upon the Bedford County Fairgrounds to your right (about 1 mile after turning onto Business Route 30). You can turn in and park here (parking is around $5) or you can continue on Rt. 30 for another 1/2 mile, into the town of Bedford. The festival area is near the first traffic light that you will come upon. During the Fall Foliage Festival hours, parking near town is usually at a premium. It is often a 3 or 4 block walk to the festival area, but it is occassionally possible to find parking closer.
If you're driving west, shortly before Bedford, you'll cross a curved bridge. After the road becomes a four lane, you will bear to the left, staying on Business Route 30. Just after you pass Burger King, stay in the right lane, driving onto Pitt Street (or business Rt. 30). The festival is about 4 blocks from this point. You may want to look for parking along the side streets. As mentioned earlier, parking is at a premium during the festival. Or, if you wish to park at the fairgrounds (parking is about $5) and take the free shuttle service into the festival area, simply stay on Pitt Street (business route 30) through town and drive to the fairgrounds. The grounds are 1/2 mile west of Bedford. You'll see them on your left. |
